Roger Machado is an 7th degree Red & Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu earning his rank under Carlos Gracie, Jr. Roger is the second oldest of the Machado brothers behind Carlos Machado.
He began training 30 years ago with his cousins, "The Gracie family". Roger's main teachers were Rolls Gracie, Crolin Gracie, and Carlos Gracie Jr.. He is a world renowned martial artist in Machado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is one of five famous brothers from the Machado clan and is the second oldest. Those are: Carlos, Roger, Rigan, Jean Jaques, and John. His brother Carlos led the way as one of the first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners to come and teach and America in 1990; Roger soon followed. His style of jiu jitsu is known as the "Zen" style (a name given from his brothers for his flowing, different outlook on moves). It is highly effective and numerous champions have trained under Roger Machado over the years. In Brazil, Roger graduated from Universidade Gama Filho where he majored in Physical Education. Roger eventually settled down in Los Angeles where he opened up two Machado Jiu Jitsu schools. Roger now is the head professor at his school in Pasadena, CA.
